For the Nordic Coffee Fest we asked some of our partners in crime coffee to send their favourite brewing recipes. For those who came to the fair the free printed brochure was available but worry not for those not in the NCF hood, we'll share all the recipes once a week here and on our Instagram @espressogear
The second recipe comes directly from Stockholm and was written by Pierre from The Brew Journal. You can subscribe to The Brew Journal newsletter here. That's Pierre having the best time with his AeroPress
The Aeropress is a versatile brewer that should feature in any coffee lovers arsenal. I travelled with one when I went backpacking in Europe for 4 months back in 2017 (kitchen scales and hand grinder included, yes I got funny looks in the hostels).
Award-Winning Aeropress Recipe
This is the exact recipe I used to place 2nd in the Swedish Aeropress Championships 2019—now it’s your turn to give it a go!
What You’ll Need
- 24g coffee (fine grind)
- 150ml boiling water (for brewing)
- ~100ml cold water (for bypass)
- 2 Aeropress paper filters, rinsed
The Method
Inverted Method: Add coffee, then immediately pour in all 150ml of boiling water.
Vigorous Stirring: Stir like crazy for ~15 seconds (up to 40s on the timer).
Cap & Expel Air: Secure the Aeropress cap with 2 rinsed paper filters and gently press out the air. Tip: Remove the Aeropress from your scale before doing this!
Flip & Press: At 1:15, flip and press slowly until 1:40.
Dilution: Bypass with ~100ml of cold water, or adjust to your preferred strength. The result? A juicy, full-bodied cup with incredible sweetness. If you're an Aeropress fan, this is a must-try!
